Most of these have rust on them - i.e. they’re “look at a horrible thing I found” pictures from someone who discovered it. This one, having a before & after, was clearly photographed by somebody who thought this was a good idea...
It’s stronger than many we’ve seen, but.

As far as ones with befores and afters go, this one is still spectacular in my opinion.

Yep, not only half-assed, but half-assed in a really perverse way. Pieces of a computer case, no trimming to fit, random ungraded bolts, *graded* bolts, socket-head screws piecing a strap together, welding *burned through* existing good metal ...
There is no way he didn’t spend 4x as long on that fix as a *better* questionable fix, and he could have done better even with the same materials.

It’ll come in handy when he has to format the spring.
It’s deeply horrifying to me when
a person *has a welder* and all the tools, but still has no idea how to design things to weld or bolt together, or supplies to do it properly, or the will. It’s like hiring a drunk with a shotgun to defend your garden from slugs.

Good point. You don’t want to risk any of the raccoons being dead *and* in one piece.
